In the Netherlands, according to legislation, a skydive reserve parachute must be inspected and repacked every 180 days. Without a valid repack, the rig is technically not airworthy.

In addition to this fixed period, there are specific times when your equipment must go directly to a certified rigger:

• After a water landing: Even after a landing in a swimming pool or ditch, moisture and salt can damage the materials.
• After a hard landing: If you landed hard or had to drag across the field.
• Reduced performance of the AAD: If your electronic automatic opening system (e.g., a Cypres or Vigil) indicates that it is due for maintenance.
• Visible wear: In the event of frayed lines, damage to the container, or stiff cables.
